Interview with Bruce Kulick:
December 1999
Q1) Bruce, you now have a band called Union. What's in store for the new Millennium with your band?
A1) We have our new studio record called "The Blue Room" out Feb 22, 2000. So we will work on promoting and touring to support it.
Q2) Congratulations on your recent win as Best New Band from MetalEdge Magazine. Union's music is different than Kiss'. Do you think this means that Union is reaching fans for the music and not for the familiarity of the band members?
A2) I hope we won because they do like our music but you never know about it.
Q3) Was Union a project that you wanted to put together, or was it one that formed naturally? You know, did you guys just kind of hook up and think the band would be a great idea?
A3) I wanted to be part of a band and John was the natural choice to form it with.
Q4) In what ways do you approach writing songs for Union that differ from how you did with Kiss?
A4) There are no rules in songwriting...John and I got along as collaborators. Paul and Gene are different in how they write, and I adapt for each one.
Q5) What are the chances of Union ever being the opening act for Kiss?
A5) Not likely, but we would love to.
Q6) You have your second album coming out early next year, "The Blue Room". Do you think that your web site will benefit you in the sales of the CD? Will you be able to buy the CD on-line?
A6) We will use the internet in any way that can help.
Q7) Was this second album easier to record than the first? You know, was the chemistry of the song writing better and did it seem more natural?
A7) We were more of a band, and that helped make it more natural.
Q8) You are currently touring Europe right now. How have the fans accepted you there, and is it much different than here in the U.S.?
A8) This question is premature, but lets just say they loved us!!
Q9) When "The Blue Room" is released, where will you start you tour? In Europe or the U.S? Will you headline or seek to open for another band?
A9) Dont know yet...
Q10) As I always ask, where do you see yourself 10 years from now? Do you think there will ever be a "No make-up years" Kiss reunion?
A10) I dont think that will happen actually, but I have no problem with it. I am sure I will still be in the music business in way form or another!
Thank you Bruce for taking time out of your busy schedule to do this. I wish you all the best with the rest of your tour and the release of "The Blue Room". Hope you can make it to Pittsburgh next year!
Thank you.
