Interview with Juan Croucier:
September 1999

Q1) Juan, you are most remembered for being the energetic bass guitarist for Ratt. You now have your own band, Liquid Sunday, in which you are the lead vocalist. Taking note of your stage presence when you were with Ratt, and how promenant your backing vocals were, was the transition an easy one?

A1) Yes, it was very easy. I have always sang lead on all the recordings for my songs. Ratt was the only band that I didn't sing lead in, although I did sing almost all the backround parts in the studio and live I was the main back up singer.

Q2) When you were forming Liquid Sunday, did you have it set that you would be the lead vocalist, or did you persue other options first?

A2) From day one, I was the lead singer.

Q3) What kind of touring do you plan on doing when your music is released? Do you plan on playing clubs, opening for major acts on a bigger tour, etc...?

A3) We are now playing clubs here in L.A. and we will keep doing that until the record comes out. We will be touring as soon as possible. I'm putting all my efforts into this band. I love what we are doing. It feels so good to be playing and singing again! And we really get along well. It's not a put on.

Q4) The hype has been around for quite awhile about LS. Have you been taking careful time to record some good kick-ass tunes? Or has it been more political, like shopping for a record lable or getting the songs approved by the lable?

A4) No, I have just had many other things happening (sessions in the studio with other bands, etc.) that have prevented me from finishing the recording. I hope to have it done by the end of September. I'm really looking forward to getting it done!

Q5) With the 80's bands coming back in style, do you think this will help promote your band, or are you not in that genre of music style with LS?

A5) LS is about good songs. I can't compare it to 80's bands or anything else. I believe that it stands on it's own. We can play tender ballads or very hard rock.

Q6) And speaking of music styles. Are there any bands out there now that you really like?

A6) At this time, I like Collective Soul, Offspring, Lit, Buckcherry but I also like artists like Hall and Oats, Badfinger, Don Henley, Todd Rundgren, The Police/Sting.......just to name a few.

Q7) Your web site is a good media source to keep fans informed of what's going on with you. Do you think that this source will help you get the band off the ground and put the music in peoples homes?

A7) Well, let's see there are computers in 32% of homes now and it's growing fast so, yes, it helps....it's a good tool. It's changing many things, like the way people access music.

Q8) Some people may not know this, but, you own a recording studio in L.A. called The Cellar. I hear it's a pretty big studio. Can you name some bands that have recorded there?

A8) Too many bands to mention here but I have had bands the range from total unknowns to bands like KISS.

Q9) Playing in a band full time and running a Studio must take up a lot of time. How much of a hand do you have in the recording studio. Do you just own it, or do you still run it and play a major role in it?

A9) I run the place. It's a job, it's an adventure!

Q10) And, as always I ask, where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

A10) Enjoying life!

Well, thank you very much Juan, and good luck with your band and I hope the best for you. Can't wait to hear the CD when it comes out.

Thank you!
